Team Sniper Match Announcement
September 20 & 21, 2008
Format
The Tiger Valley team match involves a two-day deployment with thirty two-man teams (sniper and
spotter). The type of weapons
chosen by the teams is up to them. One shooter will be
responsible for long range shots and the other for protection of the
sniper as they move into and maintain position. Both shooters
will be required to have a pistol on them at all times. The
sniper can expect shots to 1000 yards; spotter can expect shots to 400
yards. Match briefing begins at 8:00 AM. Shooting starts at 8:30 AM on Saturday and will end at
approximately 12 mid-night. Shooting begins again at 9:00 AM on
Sunday and will end at 1:00 PM with dinner and prize table.
One stage will include a sectorization test and require participants to design and utilize a USMC range card.
Philosophy & Scoring
Being a team event, all scoring will be by team totals, no individual
scores will be kept; you win as a team or die as a team, just like the
real deal. The match is designed to minimize advantages of
particular weapons systems and calibers. All stages carry equal scoring weight.
Equipment & Safety
Sniper and spotter may use any rifle and handgun for the match.
No armor piercing ammo allowed during the match. Laser range
finders will be allowed during the match, except during the range
estimation stage. Anything that you decide to use for the match
must be kept with you at all times. Teams must utilize the same
firearms for the duration of the match. No optics are allowed on the pistols.
All pistols must be kept secure in the holster when not in use.
Dropping any loaded weapon is grounds for removal from the match.
Gaming
We stress thinking and working through problems within the
rules. Gaming is nothing to me but good tactics. Cheating
will not be allowed. Anyone caught cheating will be removed from
the match. A strict stage description will be available as well
as the stage overview before shooting begins. One "RO" will stay
with each event. If you have questions please ask before you
begin the stage or if you have some tactic in mind that has not been
covered to make sure you are within the rules.
Ammunition & Equipment
120 rounds rifle sniper, 240 rounds rifle spotter, 100 rounds pistol -
both shooters. Ammunition requirements assume no missed
shots. Additional ammunition is advisable. A range card and
safety gear is also required. Participants are required to
provide any and all supporting equipment and carry it with them for the
duration of the match.
Prizes & Distribution
A prize table is being put together at this time. We will list
the vendors when the table is close to being full. The bulk of
the prizes will be awarded to each team member in the order that the
team placed. It is up to the team to determine if the sniper or
spotter is the first to pick. A subset of the prizes will be
awarded via raffle.

An optional Train-Up event is available September 17 to 19 for
$100 per day. Contact Tiger Valley directly for registration for
